What Will Change from July 1, 2025?

Starting July 1, 2025, several new laws, regulations, and rate adjustments will take effect in the Netherlands. Many people will immediately notice the impact on their wallets. Here's an overview of the most important changes:
š¶ Income and Benefits
Minimum wageĀ increases by approximately 2.5%. For people aged 21 and over, the hourly wage will be ā¬14.40, which equals about ā¬60 more per month for a full-time job.
Social benefitsĀ (like AOW pension, unemployment, and social assistance) will rise accordingly. For example, single AOW recipients will receive about ā¬31 more per month.
However, the holiday allowance for AOW pensioners will slightly decrease: singles will receive ā¬100.39 instead of ā¬102.46 per month.
š Rent Prices
Social housing rentĀ can increase by a maximum of 5% (or ā¬25 if base rent is low).
Higher-income tenants in social housing may see rent increases of ā¬50 to ā¬100.
Mid-range rentĀ may go up by as much as 7.7%, and private sector rentsĀ by up to 4.1%.
āļø Post, Internet, and TV
The price of a domestic postage stampĀ increases from ā¬1.21 to ā¬1.31.
International shippingĀ and registered mail feesĀ are also going up.

Child supportĀ payments are now given priority over other debts, helping ensure children receive what theyāre owed.
Parents of children receiving long-term care (Wlz) can now apply for double child benefitĀ via the SVB ā even retroactively.
š Taxes and Finances
The interest on overdue taxesĀ will rise to 6.5%.
The protected earnings thresholdĀ (the part of your income that cannot be garnished) is being adjusted.
š Don't Forget!
Your statutory vacation days from 2024Ā will expire on July 1, 2025, unless your employer has reminded you of them in writing.
